Citavi 6 has several new features that support working in teams and on mutiple PCs.
Start Citavi and log in with your Citavi Account information. Citavi will recognize whether you have a valid license for Citavi 6. If you do not own a Citavi 6 license, you will only be able to save 100 references in a single project.
When you log in Citavi will display projects you saved in the Citavi Cloud and projects you were invited to work on in a team.
License keys are no longer necessary.
Citavi 6 allows you to save your projects in the Citavi Cloud. For example, you may begin work on a project using a public access computer, and then continue your work at home or in the office. You may also work on your project offline. Your changes will be applied automatically when you next use Citavi while online.
Cloud projects also faciliate work in large and international teams. You can invite as many colleagues to particpate in your project as you like, and delegate read, write and modify permissions within the team. You will also be able to see who is currently working on the project and communicate via chat.
Saving projects in the cloud provides you with an additional option to work with your project information. You will still be able to store your project information locally, on a network drive, a server, or an external hard drive. You can change your storage location at any time.
Cloud projects include a chat feature that lets you communicate with other team members.
Large projects will include a diverse list of tasks to work on. Citavi 6 lets you delegate these tasks to other team members. You will always have complete overview of who is working on a given task and what tasks are new or have been completed.
Citavi 6 now supports the full indexing of attachments in cloud projects. Terms will be searched across all attachments.
Learn moreWorried about deleting references, knowledge items, or tasks by accident? There's no need, since each project has its own recycle bin which you can use to restore items. (Citavi 6.2 and later)
In the Reference Editor on the Quotations & comments tab, there is now an option to display your own citations only. Citations added by other team members will be hidden. This also affects annotations in linked PDF documents.
We offer various add-ons that provide specialized features to our users. These add-ons are stored on our servers where they are kept up-to-date. Citavi 6 gives you the option of easily adding and removing these add-ons.
Learn moreThe Group bibliography feature lets you easily divide your bibliography into sections. In Citavi 6 you can download grouping definitions directly from our server.
Learn moreCustomized conditions for new templates and programmed components for the Citation Style Editor can be downloaded directly from our server. This ensures that your customized citation styles are always outfitted with the newest code version.
To better meet the requirements of certain citation styles, we have added additional fields for certain document types, for example: Translator. In the List of reference types newly added fields are designated with an asterisk.
The new arXiv ID and PMC ID fields now work the same way as an ISBN, a DOI or a PubMed ID. Citavi can now automatically add bibliographic information for these new identifiers.
Many educational institutions, companies, and organizations have purchased site licenses for their employees and students. As a site license user of Citavi, you will now be able to display information directly on Citavi's Welcome Screen.
Learn moreIn addition, you can also determine presets for different departments or subject areas and make them easily available to users.
Learn moreCitavi recognizes whether a computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows. Citavi will benefit from running on 64-bit version of Windows, as large-scale projects and large PDF files become more manageable.
Whether your version of Microsoft Office is a 32-bit or 64-bit version is not relevant for Citavi's functionality.
Many tasks - such as saving imported references - are accomplished in the background, allowing for a more fluid workflow.
In Citavi 5, initials were used for the "Created by" and "Modified by" fields. Although users could modify these initials, it could still happen that two team members had the exact same initials. Citavi 6 now pulls the user identity from the Citavi Cloud or DBSever login process. Initials are still used in local projects.
